Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Here at Berkshire East & South Bucks Women’s Aid we are proud and delighted to have won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2010.  This is the highest award given to groups that are supported by volunteers across the UK for outstanding work within their communities.

We could not support and help improve the lives of domestic abuse victims without the hard work and commitment of our volunteers team.

Who volunteers?

Our volunteers are supporters , encouragers and skill sharers. They must have boundless enthusiasm, a sense of humour and an ability to turn their hand to just about anything!  When these basic requirements from a volunteer are presented to us we make sure that we return their investment by giving them a full induction and training programme to ensure that are well prepared and enthusiastic about their time with us. Recognition & reward

All of our volunteers are invited to attend our AGM and are invited to our Volunteers’ Forum where those who volunteer for us can feedback about their experience.  In addition every volunteer is invited to our annual Volunteers’ Celebration Event which is usually held during the National Volunteers’ Week in June.  The aim of the event is to recognise and reward those who give their time to help us.
