Our Sure Start Partnership
In conjunction with the Slough Sure Start Service we are running a series of free groups across the Slough area to provide specialist support to victims of domestic abuse and their families.
Services for Adults
All of our groups are run by trained workers and aim to help victims of domestic abuse by providing information, education and support. We understand that it can be hugely daunting to attend a group for the first time and as such one of us will be happy to talk beforehand to anyone requiring more information and can always arrange to meet up before the start of the group for anyone who may be feeling apprehensive. The groups are positive, engaging and informal and there is absolutely no pressure for anyone to talk about their experiences until they are ready to do so. Our groups run on a rolling basis, so women can attend when they can, and as often as they like. Another benefit of attending is to share experiences and allow people to meet others who will have been involved in, and moved on from, similar situations.
Freedom Programme
This is a group for female victims of domestic abuse to help them explore their experiences of domestic abuse and understand the effect that abusive and unacceptable behaviour will have had on them and their children. The aim of the group is to allow participants to identify aspects of a healthy relationship and identify warning signs in potential future partners.
Ante natal and post natal support
We run two specialist support groups for pregnant women and new mums. Abuse often begins or intensifies in pregnancy and these groups give women the chance to talk about and understand their experiences, at what is often a very isolating time. The groups are co-facilitated by our in-house Midwife.
Children’s Groups
For children affected by doemstic abuse we have an award-winning Children’s Services Team who provide structured and therapeutic groups for children. All groups are run in a safe, informal and fun environment.
Parent and Toddler Group
This groups offers supported play for parents and their children under 5 who have previously been affected by domestic abuse. Sessions focus on rebuilding relationship and meeting other mums who have experienced similar situations.
After School/Summer Club
A group for children aged 5-11 to allow them to talk about and understand their experiences based on a successful therapeutic model. A series of age appropriate workshops in a fun environment.
